I'm developing callouses on my fingers, not from writing though...A couple of weeks ago was the first ever Music Festival here on our mountain. I found myself incredibly inspired by the beautiful music and the way the musicians brought a very new and palpable energy to the town. From djembes to guitars, the notes and beats electrified us all. I found myself heading home after a wonderful flamenco workshop and playing the guitar for two hours. This was a first in a long time! W brought home a classical guitar borrowed from the music department and we're playing together every night. I've also broken out the tenor recorder to play along with his strumming. Now it's time to restart my cello and tabla lessons! When will I find the time to write?
Ah, procrastination. It's a dirty little bugger, sneaking in around every corner. Why did I need to re-hang the clothes Jayanthi hung on the line? Well, I've never liked the way she did it, but now this activity doubles as an excuse for not working. This is not good. I must train my mind, give my fingers callouses from the keys on the laptop and not just the strings of my guitar. It's time to get serious.
Incidentally it's also time to start planning our summer in earnest. The only real plans we have at the moment are to go back to our ashram in Kerala for two weeks at the beginning of June. We will do asanas, meditation, learn about Vedantic philosophy, and eat a sattvic diet. Last time we went we loved it in spite of having gone during high tourist season. Last time there were between 200 and 300 people there. This time there should be between 20 and 30. I like this very much. V will be going at the same time, and it should be interesting to see her in a different context from school.
Time for lunch and then off to discuss dystopian literature with my 10th grade tutee.
